Choose an electric ride around the person who will use it, the route they plan to take and the equipment the manufacturer specifies. Use this guide to organize the questions before selecting a bike, scooter, battery, replacement part or accessory.
A brand name, similar shape or matching connector is not enough. Have the exact vehicle model, selected configuration and product or part identifier ready when comparing options.
Choosing an electric bike
Start with the manufacturer’s rider-fit information for the exact model and frame option. Product photographs help identify a configuration, but they cannot establish that a bike fits your height, reach or intended use.
Rider fit and frame
- Compare the published rider-height range and available frame sizes.
- Check stand-over, reach and adjustment information in the manufacturer’s fit chart.
- Consider how you will mount and dismount the selected frame.
- Confirm the specified load limit and how the manufacturer defines it.
Your actual routine
- List the roads, surfaces and storage locations you expect to use.
- Check the bike’s dimensions and weight against stairs, lifts and transport plans.
- Read the assembly requirements and required tools.
- Confirm the included charger, keys and other supplied equipment.
Compare the selected frame, color and size shown on the product page. Similar names may cover different generations or configurations. If a manufacturer provides several battery options, make sure the source record and selected configuration identify the one you mean.
Do not treat a claimed maximum range as a prediction for every journey. Review the manufacturer’s test conditions and factors relevant to your use, such as assistance setting, load, route and conditions. Ask about a detail that is missing instead of assuming a specification.
Choosing an electric scooter
Check the scooter’s stated rider requirements, dimensions and intended use. Think through the whole journey, including where you will store it and whether you need to carry it or fold it.
| Your question | What to check |
|---|---|
| Will it suit the rider? | Manufacturer age, size and load requirements for the exact model. |
| Will it fit the route? | Intended surface and use, manufacturer operating limits and applicable local access rules. |
| Can I store or carry it? | Vehicle weight, folded dimensions, folding procedure and secure storage space. |
| What comes with it? | Supplied charger, assembly parts, manual and other included items. |
| What should I verify? | The exact configuration, published performance conditions and maintenance requirements. |
A product’s performance description is not a statement that it may be used on every road, path or property. Check applicable rules and permissions for the place you plan to ride, alongside the manufacturer’s intended-use instructions. We do not label every listed scooter as universally road legal.
Batteries and chargers
Use equipment that the vehicle manufacturer identifies as appropriate for your exact model. A plug that physically fits, a similar voltage label or a product described for a broad vehicle family does not by itself establish a safe match.
- Identify the vehicle model and generation, then the existing battery or charger’s model identifier.
- Compare the manufacturer’s approved replacement and compatibility information.
- Check the selected electrical configuration and supplied plug version.
- Ask the manufacturer or support team to clarify an uncertain match before using a replacement.
CPSC advises using the supplied charger, approved replacement battery packs and the manufacturer’s charging instructions. Be present while charging, do not charge while sleeping, and unplug when charging is complete. See CPSC’s micromobility charging guidance.
For replacement chargers, review the CPSC warning about universal chargers. Our category groups products for browsing; it does not make all listed batteries or chargers interchangeable. Product and manufacturer links identify the specific equipment being discussed.
Ask for instructions before transporting or returning a battery. Do not send a damaged battery through an ordinary return shipment without appropriate instructions for that item and carrier.

Replacement parts
Match a replacement to the exact vehicle model and manufacturer part identifier. A component that looks similar can still differ in dimensions, mounting, electrical connection or revision.
Mechanical matching
Check the published dimensions, mounting interface, side or position, and vehicle compatibility. A tire or tube needs the specified size and valve configuration. Brake and drivetrain components require the manufacturer’s exact matching and setup requirements.
Electrical matching
Controllers, displays, motors and wiring must be checked against the manufacturer’s approved setup. Do not assume that shared connector shapes make different systems compatible. Installation may require a qualified service provider.
Product photos identify the selected item; they do not replace a part code or a compatibility statement. Send the product link, your vehicle model and the replacement identifier when known. Describe the problem in words before sending personal or identifying documents.
Follow the manufacturer’s service instructions and use qualified service where required. Our product enquiry process does not replace a mechanical inspection or authorize a modification outside the manufacturer’s instructions.
Riding accessories
Compare accessories with your vehicle’s mounting points, dimensions and intended use. For a rack, basket, bag or carrier, check how it is attached and the manufacturer’s stated compatibility and load information.
- Confirm clearance around wheels, brakes, lights, steering and folding mechanisms.
- Read the included-hardware information and installation instructions.
- Check whether an adapter or model-specific mount is needed.
- For locks and security items, compare the intended mounting and storage use; no accessory is a promise against theft.
Choose protective equipment for the activity and the rider, with the manufacturer’s fit guidance. NHTSA’s bicycle helmet guide explains checking a helmet’s standard label, fit and activity type. We do not infer a safety certification from a product’s appearance or category name.

Ask about your setup
Use the enquiry link on a product page or contact our team with the exact model and your question. If you prefer to organize several items, add them to the cart and submit an unpaid checkout request. Availability, final pricing, delivery charges and taxes are confirmed before you decide to pay.
The full specification is linked from each product page. Where information is absent, a question is more useful than an assumption. No request reserves stock or collects payment.
